Sometimes — depends on the project. Standard builds on Starter and Custom usually have no setup fee; the monthly covers design, build, and maintenance. But projects that need heavy custom integrations, data migrations, or strict compliance work may include a one-off setup fee. We always quote it upfront, before any work begins.
The monthly fee keeps the system live — it covers hosting, monitoring, integration patches, and bug fixes. On Starter and Custom plans, if you cancel, the service stops and the system winds down with it; we'll hand over a snapshot, but keeping it running long-term would then be on you. Enterprise plans include full IP transfer at the start, so the system is yours to host and operate regardless of subscription.
Anything outside the agreed scope — new workflows, large architecture changes, or custom integrations we didn't plan for. We quote those separately so you always know what you're paying for.
Discovery and diagnostic take 4–8 days. After that, most Starter builds go live in 1–3 weeks; Custom builds with multiple workflows typically take 2–5 weeks depending on integration complexity. Enterprise rollouts vary by scope — we map a realistic timeline during discovery.
Yes. Most clients start on Starter and move to Custom as more workflows come online. Upgrades are prorated, and we re-architect anything that needs to flex with the new scope before changing the plan.
We sign mutual NDAs before discovery when the work touches sensitive systems or data. Every system runs encrypted in transit and at rest, GDPR-aligned by default. SOC2 alignment is included on Enterprise plans.
